How do you rate the APS filter?

It's pretty good. Apart from being a complete swine to prime I quite like it. Spray bar that it came with was utterly useless but I solved that by making my own you considering one for your fluval?

Yeah I want a second one to go with my 305. Don't want the cost of a 305 though.

Is the priming that annoying then? Is there not a nice easy manual pump to use?

Basically to prime it it needs to be out of the cupboard so you can get all your weight behind it to push the button down. Only problem is, it has to be in the cupboard for the hoses to be attached I think next time I would buy one with an automatic prime function just because of that. Other than that I have absolutely no issues with it - I've been really pleased with how it;s done. It was my first external and I;m happy I bought it

Just want to add though, I hardly ever actually prime it. I usually leave the filter on while water changing because even with 50% changes I don't drop the water level lower than the intake, so actually the only time I prime it is after cleaning. Which is like... once every 2-3 months, depending on whether I forget or not.
