Congo Tetra's As Dither

Yep agreed, Silver Dollars are best are Oscar dithers imo, plus they grow at a similar rate.

Hackmasters didn't think much to them. Lol.

Nope a nice snack for my Oscar... Oh I forgot, another 1 to the list.. A red clawed crab he ate whole then went back for a claw he left on the bottom

As much as I'd like some dithers, I'm not gona bother putting anything else in with them

you should try tin foil barbs, those are pretty robust, especially when they are big!

I just don't want nothing to be harrassed to death by him

At the min it's all give and take all round the tank

No major aggression...

ive got a group of arulius barbs in with my oscar who must be about 13 inches or so and he doesnt go anywhere near them. infact the barbs have started to get quite confident and swim under him catching the food that passes out through his gills....

i also have a bgk that was in with him from a 4 inch fish thats now 9 inches and keiths never gone for it. other bottom feeders are 3 juvi humbugs about 3-4 inches and a jaguar cat thats about 6 inches and no trouble at all.

my trouble started after the oscar was in the tank with no other big fish for a while then i added a 8-9 inch green terror to keep him company and the gt didnt last a week and was removed before the oscar hurt it too bad.....

different fish have different attitudes just like us. my oscar doesnt mind smaller fish hanging in his tank but doesnt like big fish anymore......

yours might be the complete opposite. if i were to add dithers in with it again then get fully grown dithers not snack size ones :good:

That's the problem there's no shops anywhere that have a good stock of large fish

where are you located?

tbh with big dithers its usually a case of catching lfs right when they get fish handed in to them or looking on AQ etc.

one of my lfs has a group of spanner barbs that are about 4-4.5 inches in at the minute

I'm in swadlincote near derby sort of Burton on Trent way

Yea I know I've been to that many fs's I've had enough of looking now

I keep checking my local one but nothing ever pops up

if you can make the trip maidenhead in peterborough had quite a few large specimins in. if i remember right they had some big giant danios, filament barbs, denisoni barbs and arulius barbs.

i remember they had quite a lot of big stock and pretty well priced too. i know its a treck but waterzoo is there too so worth a visit while there :hey:
