did a bit of research on whether people have kept congo tetra's with JD's and/or Oscars on the web. Some people seem to be doing it ok, others don't recommend it. I just purchased 6 (almost) full grown ones from MA for £40 and introduced them to their new tank mates. The Oscar has taken a particularly well to his new friends, a little too well, I hope I haven't just purchased the most expensive feeder fish ever! Got the QT on standby as they are really beautiful fish and would be a shame to lose even one I'm hoping the Oscar will lose interest soon!

LOL!! That would be a very expensive snack! I think they would be ok with the Jacks, as for the Oscar though i have no idea. If your brother has him back i think you would be fine but they sound like they're on his menu for the time being. How big is he?

My Oscar has eaten loads...

A juvie sailfin plec, 2 silver dollar juvies, 2 geophagus brazilliensis, and an armored bichir

The only survivors since oscars been in there is a jd and a gt the gts always swimming round the O too the other day I seen the 3/4" gt edging at the 8/9" Oscar and him doing at back for a couple of minutes...

I think the gt's gona be the boss

Really? Blimey!! Mattlee had a very different outcome! Did you move the gouramis on?

I know he told me he was very placcid bit was on his own in a tank when I got there...

Yea I gave them to a mate, wish I'd still got them though cause he's killed the lot.. I also gave him 6 tiger barbs a while back...

My congo's are in with eliotti, bol rams and a large male krib and they seem to hold their own, but an oscar, Maybe some-one else can advise.

Oops... they would have been dead either way I guess...

He didn't give a #41#### about the dg's it's the same with an rtbs... Just swims around him and he ain't bothered

Not a chance I'd spend that much on tetra to chuck in with him though theyd be gone in a flash

Oscar is around 5-6" I guess. He seems slightly less interested in them today and all seem to be in good shape. I took a couple of pics but they are not very good, waiting for my new Nex-5 to arrive :) .. and apologies for the dirty glass!

You might be ok then...

My 6" bichir was in there for a week no problems then it disappeared, 3 weeks later I go to clean the filters out and he's there splashing around the top happy as Larry...

I put him back in and within half an hour he was half hanging out his mouth...

Cost me £18 that did

You can tell by the tails. Males have the extended parts of the tails. The females have the same colouring but the tail is not pronounced.

Ah right, yeah they all look identical anyway. Colours look much better with slightly dimmed lights. Definitely happy with the choice, providing they survive. Didn't feel like Tin Foils or Silver Dollars and Giant Danios are very plain.

The congos will be ok for a while but once the Oscar is a little bigger they are definitely going to be on the menu,

The Oscar looks smaller than 5-6"
