Hey all,
Saw some congo tetras at my LFS. Super pretty. Could they work in a tank with 9 peppered corydoras and 1 or 2 bolivian rams?
Edit: the tank is a 29 gallon standard. (30 inches long)

Yes as far as the fish species, but no because of the tank size. Congo Tetra really need a 4-foot tank (120 cm). I have had a group twice, the first time in a 55g 4-foot tank, the second more recently in a 90g 4-foot tank. I did move them into my 3-foot tank temporarily when working on the 90g, and I could never have left them there, they simply had insufficient length for swimming. This fish likes to swim "relays" where two males, sometimes a third joins in, literally race from one end to the other. I have never observed females do this, only the males, but it is frequent.

Sounds incredible. Would love to see it, perhaps some other time.

Do you have any suggestions for tetras that swim middle to top for a 29?

Black skirt Tetras
Cardinal Tetras
Ember Tetras
Silver tip Tetras
There’s a bunch
Worried about some of those guys being a little nippy. Love the ember tetra suggestion. What about lemon or black neons?

Cardinal tetras shouldnt be too nippy...
I’ve heard the lemon and black neon tetras behave very similarly to your typical neon tetra, peaceful and schooling/shoaling

Lemons are nice really under rated tetra. Have you looked at pencil fish loads of very colourful ones and stay in the top third

Pencil fish are nice, just trying to find one that really stands out to me. Thanks for the suggestions :)
Edit: spelling
