I've just witnessed the most bizarre thing - after feeding my fish, while the front of the hood was still open, one of my albino corries danced around the top of the tank with almost all of it's body out of the water standing up on its tail.  It was like a dolphin at a sea-life show!

How unusual is this!??

The most important question to ask here: Did you get video?????

Does sound very unusual.

What is the temperature of your tank water?

It pretty normal for cories to get to the surface of water to get a gulp of air then back down to bottom of tank, but your cory is showing something like he's trying to get out of the water or something.

Is your water parameters ok? ph, ammonia, nitrite.

Was this just after a water change? did you add dechlorinator

Hi,

Tank pretty stable so I'm not doubting parameters, the only change was that I added some cherry barbs earlier that evening, and fed some frozen bloodworm and daphnia which the fish have not had for a while.

If it was only a one off and happened after feeding I would think it was just the cory being a glutton and making sure it got the yummy treats before the other fish scoffed them all. I have seen video of cory's swimming along upside down in tanks eating the floating flakes.

If the odd behaviour continues without food being involved then further investigation into its health should be carried out.
