Hi everyone.

Ok. Here it comes...

I am slightly irritated....well, no I'm actually quite angry at my partner for buying a Plec yesterday....but worse, he bought it from the LFS I resent and also he bought it despite agreeing to wait as we just passed our cycle qualifying week and wanted to give our lifebearers to a friend and decide together what we would like to stock the tank with.....

But it is as it is and I now have a Clown Plec.... And here comes the mystery:

I have just noticed fry in my tank!!!! I know Lifebearers do like to reproduce...a lot....however, I have 1m 1f Mollie and 1m 1f Swordtail, both the Guppies are Male. I have stared at the tank for the last half hour and I think they are tiny 4 fry (approx. 0.5cm in length). 3 are see-through/grey and one seems orange and on top of that, non of my 2 females even seemed pregnant?! Could they have come with the Plec? What should I do now and how long will I have to wait until I know what exactly they are? I really don't think they came from any of my fish and I never had fry before so I really don't know what to do now.

Thanks for your help in advance.

livebearer fry probably, you are really the only one who can tell unless you can take pics. Just carry on doing whatever you were doing, if they grow, yey, if they die, boooo.

probably wont matterm, whatever they are they are either going to make it, or die, i would worry about it later :)

If you want to keep them (even if just to sell on or curiosity for what they are, buy a breeding net to separate the fry from the rest of the fish.

You can always wait to find out what you get from those fry. If you are just too impatient for that, try posting some clear pictures of the fry in the livebearer section. You might be surprised to find how good we are at identifying nearly newborn fry.

I'm pretty sure they had to come from your fish. Sorry about your partner's impatience, You guys should not buy fish unless both agree on them, best if you shop together. Plus he supported a shop that you don't like, probably because they don't properly care for their fish. He's got a lot of making up to do!

Im pretty sure the topic started with the OP being very irritated at her partners actions, having not realised he was going to buy it. Give the girl a break, she just trying to make the best of whats shes now got on her hands.

OP - As Tizer said, they re either going to live, or become tasty little snacks. If you dont want the latter to happen, get them a little breeding netg or move them to another tank if you can, and see how they progress :)
