My tank has just finished cycling. It is a 55 gal, 4 foot tank. I currently have 3 black tetras, 3 yellow tetras, 1 clown loach, 1 upside down catfish, 1 pleco, 1 bumblebee catfish.
I'm well aware now that my pleco and clown loach are going to out grown my tank but in the next year or 2 I am determined to upgrade to a 6+ foot tank.
So I was wondering if I add 2 more loaches and 3 more each of the tetras would this be too many fish for my tank?
I want to up their numbers to keep them happy but don't want to compromise the water quality. I am willing to do 2 or more water changes a week (I figure if I did two a day for the last 6 Weeks I can handle 2 a week).
Thanks in advance for any advice!

That stocking level should be within the capability of a tank the size of yours. Do you already have a firm commitment to that larger tank? If not I would advise against relying on it. No matter your good intentions, a large group of clown loaches will not long thrive in a tank too darned small for them.

I know it's a common thing said. But I have made a commitment in getting these fish and therefore am going to provide the best I can. I have started looking for a second hand tank, but if I can't find one once I graduate (currently in nursing school) and get a job I well be purchasing a new one. I will also increase the size of shoal from 3 to 6+.
I understand your concern and honestly wouldn't want advice without concern behind it, so thank you for that!
