My new tank is NOT too small for Clown Loaches, i have re-searched this believe me, i have a 180 Litre Juwel tank, in the process of cycling at the moment, my 2 clown loaches are currently in my 90 litre, and are perfectly fine, BUT i do know they need a bigger tank! Before everyone starts giving me a hard time...

yes but they need to be in bigger groups than just two. and you wont have enough room for more

I already have a larger tank....this is my point...i am currently cycling it now, then my 2 clown loaches are going in there :D

How many Gallons is a juwel 180? if it's 180L then EVEN THAT IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH

How many gallons is the tank as oscars need very large tanks of 120gals.

I always thought it was a minimum of 75 US Gallons for 1.

Ok so a girl on your first link has 6 Clown Loaches in a 40 Gallon ??

And your saying i cant have 2 in a 50 gallon?? :dunno:

Also they only grow 1-2 inches per year, and the 2 i have are no bigger than 2 inches now !! So i think my 50 gallon tank is plenty big enough for them :D :p

Claire ;)

It appears that Clairel understands the size potential of the Clown loaches and in the end I agree with her. It takes their entire life, not a short one either, to reach their maximum potential and they will be fine for several years in this tank. Don't confuse a 2" clown juvenile with a 10" clown adult. Still though, it would be nice if they were in a slightly larger group.

That's not the point, the point is the potential size for the clowns, 90% of the people WONT get a larger tank in the end, or they notice that their clowns dont grow anymore..i wonder why, do whatever you like, i could care less, i'm just saying

BTW i AM saying that 2 in a 55 is bad, at LEAST 3, at least the clowns are in a school when they were in a 40G

Firstly can i just say, i hear what you are saying, but i am NOT 90% of people, i have only had my exsisting tank for around 8 weeks, and i have ALREADY purchased a 180 litre to re house some of my fish, so i do care about there welfare etc....and like i said, this size is fine for them at the moment, obviously when they grow in a few years, i WILL have to invest in another tank, there is no other option :D :D I dont mind and this is perfectly fine ;)

When it comes to shoaling fish I believe it's better to choose less species and give them greater numbers. Not only does it help keep the fish comfortable and free of stress, but they tend to display much better this way.

I think putting angelfish in with oscars of any size would be cruel....Oscars would love to have a little exotic snack but I love angelfish and could not see one get eaten or disemboweled...
