As some of you know already, i have purchased a very desirable juwel 180 (curved front) tank :D It has all been set up today, sand, 8 live plants, slate etc....

No fish, as im doing a fishless cycle

Anyway, lol, my question is this... when my new tank is cycled, i am wanting to move currently from my exsisting tank, my 2 angels, 2 clown loaches, 1 dwarf gourami, i havnt really thought about what fish im going to get, but i went to my lfs today for my sand etc...and saw a lovely looking albino oscar :D In a couple of months down the line, would i be ok to add 1?? Would it mix with the fish i have? My brother bought 2 Discus today, im also tempted, to have 2 of these in my tank aswell, but i havnt decided lol....

But i really liked the look of the Oscar....Do i need 1 or 2??

Thoughts people??

Thanx Claire xx

How many gallons is the tank as oscars need very large tanks of 120gals.

The tank is to small so i wouldn' be tempted to get one as it's only a 180 litre.

Yeah, I didn't really get past the whole picture of the oscar killing everything in there to see that the tanks isn't big enough either....

I'd have to give it a hell no, sorry :/

I give up on saying anything about clowns anymore, I always get yelled at. :dunno:

My new tank is NOT too small for Clown Loaches, i have re-searched this believe me, i have a 180 Litre Juwel tank, in the process of cycling at the moment, my 2 clown loaches are currently in my 90 litre, and are perfectly fine, BUT i do know they need a bigger tank! Before everyone starts giving me a hard time...

I am NOT going to get an Oscar, but someone said they kill/eat Angels?? Really?? My 2 Angels are quite big, and the Oscar i saw at the lfs was maybe the same size as them :dunno: But i understand i cannot home an Oscar in a 180 litre tank...so i wont get one :D

The oscar you saw would have been a juvinile fish, adult males can be up to 16" long, 10" tall and 4" thick (give or take a bit). They may not be able to directly eat an adult angel fish but if they were to turn aggressive toward them the angel fish would certainly be killed. In a HUGE aquarium it may be possible to keep oscars and angel fish together as there would be enough room for the angels to stay out of the oscars way but in anything home sized it is really not recomended.
