i was wondering, will the following fish get along?

1 Pacu
2 Anglefish
2 Pufferfish
1 Needlenose Gar

any answers will be appreciated!

I dont think any of those fish would get alonge with eachother! That and pufferfish are salt/brackish. Angelfish would be ripped to sheds by each of the fish, and you would need a maaaaasive tank.

Agree, I don't believe any of these fish work together at all, but there are probably members in various corners of TFF who know about these fish individually and could help you learn about them if you are set on particular ones. We also don't usually see any of these fish well-associated with the beginner learning experience (which is a really important period of the hobby for anyone and not be be self-concious about by the way!)

Having a more average tropical community tank the first two years or so helps the hobbyist be successful at learning a lot of baseline habits, leading to better succuss with more exotic fish in the future. The time flies by and you are there sooner than you expect!

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

Do we know the size of your tank? What are its dimensions as well? It looks to me like you picked some fish that appeal to you and were hoping they would get along? Correct me if I'm wrong. Seems like an odd combo is why I ask. If you give us size (gallons, liters) and dimensions we can help with stocking a bit more.

The fish you chose are incompatible. The Pacus get huge. Depending on the subspecies we are talking a 16 inch to more than 30 inch fish that is probably just as deep as he is long. Really has no place in a normal size tank.

Puffers are often recommended for species tanks meaning they are the only species in the tank. And yes many but not all are brackish, slight saltwater, fish.

Think about designing a tank this way:
1. Do you want aggressive, semi-aggressive, or a community tank?
2. Look at regions: African cichlids, south american, asian communities for example.
3. Think about the level at which the fish are comfortable: bottom feeders that sift through sand, middle swimming fish and top feeders. So you get more balance.

Hope this helps.

Hello to All! I already have had the needle gar for about a year by itself and was wonder what species would go good with it. I have a 100gallon tank.
