I am re stocking my 100 Gallon tank my plan is a mixed community tank. I have a clown pleco 2 small spotted synodontis cats (should mature at 6 inches) a pair of kribensis and 4 Congo tetras I was thinking getting 8-10 total. I am thinking a a group of angels possibly 6? I would like a suggestion of a attractive mid sized Cichlid not to aggressive or destructive. Any Ideas??? Am I over stocked??? I want to make the right choices..........................Thanks

not over stocked so long as you have sufficient filtration. i would say perhaps go for a blue acara or Thorichthys ellioti? or some sort of dwarf cichlid eg: GBR or apisto. you have quite a few option with this size tank.

Doesn't look overstocked, even if you get 10 Congos.

How about rainbow cichlids (Herotilapia multispinosa)? They're my old favorite, fairly active, colorful cichlids with big personalities, that grow to 5" or so. They may dig a little, and destroy fine leaved plants if they obstruct the view in their territory, but they're community friendly enough. You could keep a male with a harem of 3 or 4 females, for example. They're pretty much the perfect cichlids. I have no idea why they're so hard to find at fish shops these days.

I would be careful with something like rams/apistos with a pair of Kribs in there, kribs can be aggressive when spawning (I assume you mean a spawning pair?) particularly with other cichlids who occupy the same territories.

An acara is a good option, as is the rainbow cichlid mentioned already. Personally if it was me, Id go for a severum, yes they can max out around 10", however 8" is more normal, relatively peaceful, could easily put up with the kribs and not bother the angels. However, if you want a lovely planted tank, then not such a good idea as they do like to snack on plants.

T. Ellioti or T. Aureus would also be fine with the other fish. Would be more careful with T.Meeki however as they are more aggressive than their relatives.

Thanks for all the input! I was considering a acara I haven't seen rainbows or Thorichthy Elloti but I will look them up. I love severums but that might be a bit big .I love rams and actually had a breeding pair years ago but I didn't think they would handle the kribs and I want something a bit bigger easier to watch from across the room.I have tough plants Anubis and Java ferns mixed with some artificial ones but I don't want to put the tank back together daily due to destruction..............Thank you so much for the suggestions.....Is not like I can get a honest answer from the Aquarium store!
