Community Tank Build

If you get double-zeros at 12 hours or less for a week (re-dosing to about 5ppm) then you've passed your qualification week and it will be very unlikely that you'd get a mini-spike after even a full stocking. In your log you look to be getting a start on your qualification week. One other caution (I forget if you'd passed a month yet) is that if the whole thing seems to be wrapping up in less than a month and you didn't add any mature media then you should be suspicious of it and possibly just continue along to take it past the month mark (but I think you were basically at a month now.)

Sorry, I'm not good at Apistos or corys. I have had a lot of corys (you probably have too) and find them fascinating though. This forum has taught me that they often become increasingly social and exciting the larger their group gets. I also have attended cory talks and can say there are huge numbers of types of them. For otos its good to have smooth stones you've allowed to be underwater in the backyard sun so that they are covered with green algae - you rotate these in to feed the otos - its good to have them already ready before you bring home any starving otos, since that's how most of them die (starving in transport.)

This is great info and I will definitely do this.
My join date is a bit of a misnoma as I've had a 5 year hiatus in fish keeping still quite green and am learning lots as we go.

I bought plants today. More than I need I'm sure, but will plant them all and see what grows.

I have 2x30W T8 and no CO2, so I know I'm looking at lowlight/low tech results.
Full list of plants and pics to come later.

Well, actually, 60w over 29g is slightly over the 2w/g line of low-light, so you'll want to watch the light-hours closely to see whether algae starts (although, unfortunately, it can wait and wait and then come on rather suddenly in some cases.) Another thing you could do to moderate things a bit is possibly to power the two tubes on separate timers (if its two fixtures) and work periods of one tube as you transition between dark and light. WD

Plants I purchased include:
Hygrophilia (polysperma, rubra & others )
Java Fern x2
Java moss
Ludwigia (repens I think)
Lilaeopsis (brasiliensis ?)
Bacopa monnieri
Echinodorus; felix, dwarf leopard, nile queen(ozelot), firefeather(paleofolius)

marsilea hirsuta

Fish added this week after successful fishless cycle:

10 Rummynose
7 Cardinal
8 Panda Cory
2 Apistogramma Viejita (1m1f)

  This tank looks amazing!!!!! Great colour's on the fish aswell there amazing. Im in love.

I just noticed, the female Apisto is on the far right in the last shot. She's not as colouful as the male at the moment but does change her colouring more often depending on mood it seems.
Also they are both inquisitive fish always up at the glass when I'm having a look following me around.

Just about all my cichlids, including angels, were always very attentive to human movements in the room. Definately one of the things that can be fun about them. WD
(edit: spelling)

Im going to have to get these a couple of these guys. What are a no no for them to go in with? They look AMAZING!!!!!
