Common Pleco

Is there a pleco simply called "Common pleco" because thats what they called it at the store. If there is such thing, how big and how fast do they grow?

Common plecos grow to about 20" long.

however like are great looking fish, and they do keep the tank clean

I've had 3 pl*cos since July. The middle size one was 8" when I inherited him. I just measured him when I got home from work today as he was stuck to the front of the glass and I thought he was looking longer. He is now a little over 9.5", being fed algae tabs, bloodworms, and cucumber. Gonna wait for the other two to move to somewhere on the tank where I can measure them. Maybe I'll put pencil marks on the side of the tank with their names like my dad put on the wall when we were kids!
