well no. providing your light is in the 4500k+ range, and there is enough wattage for the volume, that should do the trick.

I can't recommend anywhere to buy from, but the 'T' number related to how many 8ths of an inche the tube is in diameter, so the easiest thing to do is measure it. If it's 1" (8/8ths) then it's T8, if it's 5/8th" then it's T5 :)

sorry to be a pain im new to this

ive got a juwel rekord 70

im not sure im its t5 or t8 i need

also my lfs dont sell them is there anywhere you would recommed getting one

for the tubes, t8 are 25mm and t5 are 16mm diameter. cant help with the shop though, sorry!

it seems from a quick glance on ebay the shorter the tube the less wattage it has

That is generally correct, but don't forget the above posts are talking about the diameter of the tube (ie. it's thickness), not it's length.

Yeah i understood that :good:

its just really confusing

i dont like just the white lights i want a blue one that will fit the tube housing i already have thats also good enough to grow some easy plants under and i just dont think 15w in a 70l tank is enough?

ive got some blue perspex on the way i was going to buy a better normal white tube and build a blue perxpex box around it but i think just buying a blue tube will be better

sounds like, something, many of us do. using "moon lighting". unfortunately, that was not the question posed by the OP, and has nothing to do with the planted section. sorry guy, for obvious reasons, i missed your point!

sorry im really confusing people now

i sort of changed my mind half way through the thread

sorry

colored bulbs will not affect the live plants inside the Tank Aquariums but you should consider the fact about live fishes how it could survive under bright light tubes. In realistic, Tank Aquariums comes with low watt Fluorescent Bulbs with the required specifications. you can find more information from this below source link.
