as the title says i collected a 'bonded' pair of german blue rams from a private breeder today. I spoke to him previously via email to check water params etc so i could prepare my tank in advanced but when i got em home the water they came with was p.h. 6.2 with 185pps my tank is p.h. 6.8 95pps (i was told they were at ph7 & 110pps). They've been in there about 5hrs, they have beautiful colourings but are sitting on the sand cuddled up together next to the heater which is set at 26'C (i know this cud go up but dont wanna spook em). I have just put some bbs in but they're not interested. Is there anything i can do other than leave em to acclimatise?? I should have known somat was up when the guy waved me off saying ''goodluck i hope they'll be okay''..... Also, despite being sold as 'bonded pair' he just appeared to pick any out of the 'fish soup' tank he assured me was full of ''bonded'' pairs which naturally grouped up as soon as he stuck his net in. So not the experience i'm used too wen it comes to dealing with private breeders. What do u think?? Am i worrying over nothing??

26 degrees is too cool for gbr's. set it to 28-30 and they will feel more comfortable. your water should be fine for them as they prefer acidic conditions so as long as you acclimatised them well they should be ok.

if they were pulled out of a large group of them then there is no way he can say they are a bonded pair, he has probably just given you a male and female which isnt too much of an issue as they are quite likely to bond. do you have any pics to confirm they are male and female?

what else is in the tank?

they are on their own in a 12G tank at the min with live plants, bogwood, and a rock cave. i will get some piccys loaded hopefully, tomoz to get em checked out no probs!!

the female should have a pink/purple belly which the male wont have. be sure to turn the temp up to about 28-30 degrees as well :good:
