Cold Water Filter Media In Tropical Fish Tank ?

Hello everyone, i am restarting this hobby due to being given a aqua start 320. im just wondering if its possible to cycle my tank with the filter media out of one the cold water tanks in my household ? or do i need to do a fishless cycle of get another filter media out of someone elses tropical fish tank ? thanks.

There is no problem in taking the filter/media from a coldwater setup to be used in warmer waters. Hope you enjoy your restart.
