i set my DIY co2 up roughly a month or so ago, i assumed it was working as i had HUGE alge growth and all the plants took off.....

Now however nothing is happening in my tank i`m off to buy a kh/gh test kit so i can monitor it more cloesely.

i wasn`t sure if i was getting the co2 too the tank so last night i drilled a hole in an old fish flake tub and put the air line arround that to see if it collected any bubbles....

NOTHING.

I have 2 2ltr pop bottles with silicone tubing atached to the top of them running directly into the filter inlet, my mixture would be 7 g of dried yeast. 250g of sugar a halfteaspoon of bicarbonate and 800 ml of water...

last weekend,

i alternate changing one bottle every week

Sounds like a leak somewhere. Soapy water can be used to detect leaks.

Algae growth is generally associated with low or unstable CO2, not the other way around.

hMMM think i`m gonna give up on the DIY co2 and save up for a pressureised system

just re-done al the seals on the co2 bottles. this time i glued a air hose connector inside of the lid and pushed the silicone hose up to it after smothering it al in silicone so it should hopefully work...

out of interest what kind of yeast does every body use?

Wine yeast i got from ebay. Has a high tolerance to alcohol which is what causes the CO2 to stop running usually, so it makes it last a bit longer
