Co2 In The Air, Am I Missing Something?

Smells a bit fishy

Ok, just a really quick one,

If there is 385PPM of CO2 in the air, and that counts for arguements sake 1%

Then if we pump enough air into our tanks then the amount of CO2 will be enouph? Or could somebody please let me know how much air would need to be diffused to create 30PPM in our tanks.

I know the rate of diffusion is a vary variable subject, and I am sure there is evidence to support that, pumping extra CO2 into the tank will increase plant growth. I was just curious if anyone had any evidence on how to get the same results without adding CO2.

Oh one last thing, what roughly, again you can't be specific, how much CO2 is in our aquarium water? I know that the ocean holds about 50x more than the atmosphere.

Thoughts are greatly welcomed :)

Its a combination of holding capacity and diffusion rate.

Basically, the water (dependent on pH/temp/surface movement/depth etc) willalready hold its natural 'saturated' limit of dissolved gasses (including CO2).

The addition of CO2 temporarily increases this level of dissolved CO2 to higher levels, but, is continually lost (hence the need for continual replacement).

Natural levels in fresh water hover around 10ppm.

Thats the simple version, hope it helps!
