Is there any reliable info that says if these kits are any good. Theyre the ones that create carbon dioxide in the water by electrolysis. From website:

Carbo-Plus
No bubble counter, pressure tank, gas refills, valves, or gauges needed!
Carbo-Plus is a new and revolutionary method of producing carbon dioxide for aquarium use in growing aquatic plants. Simply stand the unit with the carbon bar upright in your aquarium while its handy control dial remains outside where you can select the perfect level for your freshwater aquarium. A very fine "smoke" of carbon dioxide will appear immediately. This system is so safe and convenient; we know you'll love it! No carbon dioxide gas, or special tubing necessary! Replacement carbon blocks and holder units available.

What do you guys think

I really really prefer this to other co2 types kits, it seems much more simple, but there cant be hard to use pressurized systems anyway, but

i read somewhere that it doesnt work well for some reason, i think one of the reasons was that it doesnt work well in soft water, (i think its soft water)

I would be interested to know what others have to say as well, and if they have experience in this type of c02 kit

Ive seen these, personally I think they would be next to useless, mostly beacuse the bubbles just rise to the surface and dont get time to dissolve in to the water, so you'll have to run the unit very high to get anywhere near 30ppm CO2, it'll be like lemonade it'll be so fizzy!

Also, there seems a lot less control over the CO2 input too.

Are they not quite expensive too?

HAHA, this looks amazing!

It breaks the water down into H and O and then the O reacts with the carbon electrodes to form CO2 and the H is released as neutral H2 !!

You`ll have full control since the amount of CO2 produced will be determined by the current running through the unit.

I believe there are issues with soft water since it reduces the KH by depositing calcium carbonate on the inside of the reactor!!!

People are saying that the C electrodes last about 6 months.

Looks like a great idea, never seen one before but it seems like quite a few hobbiests use them. Controller costs a hefty sum but then again so does a bottle and regulator!!
