Ok, so after deciding that Id be cheaper to put a CO2 system together myself Ive now spent 70 quid on two cylinders, neither of which fit the threading of my regulator. This is despite being informed the regulator is compatible with UK & Europe Co2 pressurized Cylinders and being told that all cylinders share the same thread.

The photo below shows the regulator and the disposable cylinder I got in last week. The refillable cylinder arrived today and has the exact same connecting thread as the disposable one. So really, what is going on?

Any help would be appreciated!

The thread on the left definitely looks like the standard female sized thread to me. It should fit CO2 extinguishers and the like with no problem. Not sure why your refillable has such a small male thread.

Team Onslaught's website has a fantastic amount of info on CO2 and CO2 connections - http://www.teamonslaught.fsnet.co.uk/co2_info.htm. Well worth a read.

Your reg is a standard fitting. Never seen a refillable bottle with a disposable bottle connector so seems a bit odd to me. Where did you get it from? Always make sure that you are able to get your CO2 bottle refilled before purchasing it.

There are different sizes for CO2. Industrial size cylinders use a different thread. Generally speaking welding bottles, pub bottles and fire extinguishers all use the same thread.

Thanks guys! This is this very bottle. Ive just been off the phone to the manufacturer and have been told that because the bottle is small (1kg) it is fitted with a smaller head I would need a smaller regulator.

This is crap. Do you know if its possible to get some sort of adaptor? If not Im going to have to send this back. Its going to cost a quite a bit and the company charges a 25% admin fee, which is an absolute joke. That on top of the 20 quid I spent on the disposable, Im not really doing too well.

Yep know Sealey well. That is a special bottle they do for disposable regulators but which can be filled up again but only by Sealey. A lot of companys have contracts with them so makes life easy as they just swap the used bottle for a full one. Makes it cheaper in the long run rather than buying disposables.
