Co2 Canisters

Let me know how you get on. Personally I would rather get my hands on a large Co2 cylinder that I know I can get refilled quickly when it runs out. I will use the 500g that comes with the set I am going to buy while I wait on getting the big one refilled. That is how I hope things will go.

If not the dissposables might work well shipping isn't that bad either so keep me updated.

Sure will do... the beauty of the Deltec is that you can buy a £10 adaptor to convert to refillable bottles... cool hey! I've just order the CO2 kit off ebay, ::linky:: - good price with £8.95 delivery!

Will buy one of the Sealy bottles soon and let you know how it goes...

I was directed to this kit it looks pretty good and fingers crossed BOC will refill that canister too.

Dude, same thing! German eBay tells me that the page is not available... :eek:sama:

That link works...!

That system looks good, cant read German though

Shrimply,

If you are still interested in using a 2KG Co2 fire extinguisher try a google search on your location and fire extinguishers. I ran one and one of the results points here: LINK
(I dont know the area, so not sure it this is local to you or how old the details are)

I use a local supplier to get mine filled (about £13 for 2kg) and he can exchange the extinguisher at virtually no notice and as he lives in the next street to me, he's happy to exchange outside working hours or at weekends.
Depending on the size of your tank it should last a good while, I use one on a 60cm tank and it lasts months running at 30ppm.

Personally I wouldn't bother with getting an extinguisher from ebay, certainly not before reading this guide:
Ebay Extinguishers Guide If you get yours from a local supplier, you can be sure it's tested !

I would check with BOC before you buy that system they almost certainly wont refill anything that's not very clearly a BOC cylinder. They say its for safety, I.e. you could give them duff one that blows up when the fill it. It could also be to force you into renting a BOC cylinder, I'll let you make up your own mind ;) same goes for chubb.

Thanks people. Safe-fire is very close to me but I have not yet found an email for them. I have a feeling they will not supply privetly but still plan to check them out if other plans fail.

My mum took a phone call from BOC to day prices seem a little hazy and I am a bit confused but this is what she has written down. The minimum they do is 6KG ( not a problem) and apparently costs £8.65. Rental is 44.50 for the year. There is no prices written down for refills and I am unsure whether they are covered in the rental price ( probably not). Any way they are sending out some info in the post so I will let you know how that goes later on.

Thanks for the heads up about the refilling Sam. I don't really think it will cause a problem I will just use the 500g I get with the kit for the short while that I need to get the BOC one refilled and 6kg should last me well over a year so it doesn't seem a big concern right now.

Just a quick question. I there a maximum weight the regulator will take? I hope I don't over do it,lol

Dont think so. By weight do you mean pressure? Most 'normal' (ie those you dont need a pressurised gas license to have!) cylinders from 350g to 12lb are pressurised to around 60psi which most regs are designed to cope with.

 Ok guess that was a stupid question. You can tell I don't really know what I am talking about.

I just wondered if anyone else had experiance with BOC is so please let me know, if not on this thread then by PM.

It is a real shame that my LFS does not stock any real CO2 equipment. I am going to ask them about cylinders this weekend but more to annoy them than anything else :hey:. I have began enjoying asking for things they can't get. They do say its better to laugh than cry. I asked them about CO2 tubing last time i was in and was informed you didn't get it in regular 6mm size but only wider than 15mm. :look:

Almost as bad as one near me.

When I asked if they have Co2 ..... The replied "No, we only do carbon dioxide".
Then she tried to tell me that 'co2' or 'carbon dioxide' was the difference between a pressurised system and a yeast based system.

.... I laughed .... left !

So if I was to buy that CO2 kit for £67.17, then I could just use any CO2 fire extinguisher with it? Which I could then fill up at BOC (if i have such a place around me)?
This is a very useful thread, and it's urging me towards buying C02....though I'll probably get higher lighting first....it could be a while until I can afford even that  .
