Hi,
I have a DIY yeast CO2 system using 2 L coke bottles attaching the end of tubing to an airstone. However, i see the bubbles going up but not dissipating. They would stay at the top of the water and then would merge and create a kind of foaming substances. Is that ok?

Thanks

really i would say that you need a diffuser(ladder type of thing) to get the maximum out of the system it puts it into the water much better than leaving it to go through a air stone where not that much ends up dissolved in the water

No, the bubbles from an airstone are too big really. You need to get a glass ceramic diffuse, which will produce much small bubbles, whih increases diffustion into the water. Being small they also get blown around the tank more easily.

so will it be harmful to the aquarium with using the airstone?

Its wont be harmful, you just wont get the most from your CO2 if you use one thats all.

I have one of those air diffusers from a local Petsmart I think. Would those work? My plants come in tomorrow and I prefer they not die. Where can I get one of those glass diffuses?

just be careful with smallish fish if you get the ladder type diffuser. mine killed two of my female bettas. they both got through the holes onto the back of the ladder and obviously couldn't get back out again! i found them the next day :-( needless to say the ladder is now history and i'm just waiting for the glass diffuser i ordered off of ebay to arrive.

You can get glass diffusers from Aquaessentials

Don't get an expensive one unless you have lots of money to slash about!

Or you can get them on eBay, but they tend to come from Asia so will take around a week to arrive. Aquaessentials will have it to you by Wednesday if you order it today, most likely Monday or Tuesday.
