hey all, my clown loaches are acting really strange for some reason tonight, normally the ones in my take like to hind and all of a sudden they are all in 1 corner swimming up and down like mad fish, also they are rubbing and flicking them self on the stones, here a little vid didnt get much of what they doing but hope it helps, just wondered if it was normal?

Hiya, the swimming up and down is normal....they`re just `dancing` :good:

have to agree with the above post, be extra vigilant watching them as they are as said prone to ick,and its a real job to clear it up in clowns if not treated imediatley, a little while ago a few of us had sick clown loaches, i lost one of mine :( maybe i didnt catch it fast enough, interpet make a good whitespot med ( anti whitespot) that can be usd at full dose with these ( not a lot of meds can as they are scaleless) BUT of course you need to be 110% sure its ick before you start treating

they also play and dance, so maybe its noting at all, but ike i say just keep a close eye on them, if you spot anything then dont hesitate to post in the emergency section..... hope thay are fine and just dancing for you.

do a water test too as this will lay to rest any worries over water quality :)

good stuff, its just they have always been shy and like to hide in my tank they have gone days sitting in the same castle all bunched up together and iv have to lift it to make sure they are still alive lol,

What are the signs for ick?

ah yes the clown dance hehe =] after they start doing it my corys join in and then some of my other fish do, its funny to watch!

as for the flicking check your nitrite aswell as that can cause flicking if they have been exposed to it for a long period of time

ick or whitespot usually starts with the rubbing against anything in the tank, then you can see little white spots on them like grains of rice....its actually a parasite which also means it is infectious and can be transfered over to other fish!

more can be found on the tinterweb though

but like shelagh said be careful what meds you use as they are scaleless and itll burn them
