Iv recently found out my tank has Ammonia  and iv had my 6 clown loachs for about 1 week and already lost 2 and the others are notlooking two special, they have white specales on them does this mean anything and they just stay by the filter up the top or at the back of the tank on the gravel.

Please help someone! Iv already done a 50% water change and trwated with ammo lock and doing 50% tommorow aswell

What size is your tank?

They have white spot which needs treating meanwhile you need to do daily water changes of as much as you can.

These fish are probably in a too small and uncycled tank.

You do know how big they get don't you (about 24" I think!)

its 200Litres and also my angel fish keep picking on the clown loach and causing them to hide in places they keep getting stuck in.

What can i do?

You need to do large water changes to get your ammonia down. Then you need to treat the whitespot with medication that you can buy from your local fish shop. Your tank is too small for Clown loaches as they eventually grow to around 12 inches and need a minimum of a 6ft tank. But for now, justwaterchanges and then go buy the meds and treat at half dose as loaches are scale less and do not take well to full dose medications.

You need a liquid testing kit and large frequent waterchanges. The testing kit is for knowing when you can stop doing large waterchanges. Have you had a read at the Beginner's Resource Center? It's at the top of the forum topics in the new to hobby section, or better yet click here. Look under fish-in cycle.

The whitespot needs to be treated for a full life cycle, 2 weeks if I remember correctly, so correct me if I am wrong. Treating whitespot while trying to cycle a tank is going to cost you a fair amount because you must re-dose the tank after every waterchange (sometimes several times a day.)

It's not going to be easy, but I have faith that you can do it!

You could also help your Clowns by making sure they have somewhere to hide and take cover. This will reduce their stress levels, especially if they are being chased by the angel.

I will repeat the advice of treating for 2 weeks. Don't just stop because you can't see the spots any more, your tank will still contain the parasite.

Thanks for all your advice, iv been been to locl tropical fish shop and brought some AMMO LOCK and STRESS COAT.
iv done another 50% water change and treated water with ammo lock and stress coat.

How long before i should re-test the water again.

I commented on your other post but it did not mention the ich problem the recommendations and advice are sound here is an interesting post on how to deal with ich and worth a read IMO :good:

http://forums.loache...opic.php?t=2599

I have read a lot on the ich subject and one thing is for sure there are a few different ways of dealing with ich it sounds like they have all been successful its up to you to decide which course of action you take.

Good luck
