Clown Loaches And White Spot?

what the deal are these more substitutable to this as my bro has had a tank for a while and are the stats are fine but he had a pair of clown louches a few months ago and they got white spot and died nothing else in the tank affected so he didnt get any more and kept an eye on his levels and they have been fine

he then last week bought some more clown louches and today they have started to get white spot again

he has begun treating it and but he has never had a problem with all the other fish he keeps and he asked me did i know but said i would ask on here!

How big is the tank?
What other fish are in ther?
what filter does he have?
Upp the temp to about 27 28 and cover the tank so its completely dark this will speed up the white spots life time so it should go quicker.

i dont know the answer to your question but i am curious about this too as my mum added some clown loaches to her tank and ended up with white spot!

she treated it but the clown loaches died. no white spot since though!

his tank is 4ft and he has a verity of community fish in there mollys platys guppies etc and not sur eon the filter its not a make known to me it says on it it filters 120 lph so not sure

The filter could be partly to blame only 120lph you want a filter doing around 1500lph for a tank that size. clown loaches get to about 12" and will ut grow his tank plus they need to be kept in groups of 6 plus all of this could be why they keep getting ill.

ok found out some more accurate its a sera 120 leter and he has just told me the tank they are in at the minute is a 36x12x12 with the idea to move to my dads 250 letre tank when they get too big

Fair enough. it might be worth getting a few more then and growing them out together because they need to be in groups.

i take it 2 isnt enough then anything else that causes them to get it when all his other fish dont have a problem at all

6 min really. Im not to sure what it could be but like i said i would inreace the temp and cover the tank untill it goes.

To answer your original question, yes clown loaches are prone to getting white spot.

Also be careful what medications you use and only use half doses as clown loaches are also particularly sensitive to medications due to their lack of scales.

Yes they're very prone to white-spot. Went in my lfs today and he's got a tank of about 200 small ones struck down with it and they looked in a terrible state.
