If you don't have a suitably sized tank and habitat for the clown loach or don't plan on getting one anytime soon, you should rehome the clown loach, on the other hand if you do have the right tank set up for this fish and are keen on keeping clown loaches properly then you should get some more clown loaches if you are planning on keeping this fish in the long term.

Hi
i have 2 clown loaches and they are fine in a 65 liter tank they wont grow there full size if kept in a smaller tank and u should feed them live or frozen blood worm tubifex and daphnia they hardly eat flakes

Hope this helps

I think its a mute point really. 65ltr for clowns imo is too small. Some ppl are of the opinion that although you might restrict the growth my putting them in tanks which are too small, those hormones build up and can be detrimental to the long term health of your fish.

I dont think its any better than buying a puppy and keeping it in a small cage all its life.

But as per the post, groups are far better and they will be more 'clown' like if kept in groups. Also they like a really clean tank, as do most loaches, nice clean gravel. But they are very very prone to ich also

Keeping fish in a tank too small for them will have a detrimental effect on their health, it will reduce their natural life expectancy and make them a lot more prone to numerous health problems and a small tank won't give a large growing fish a great quality of life, so its not fair to keep them in such a way- if you can't have a tank large enough for the fish you want to keep then you shouldn't keep the fish at all.
