my clown loach was bullied for a period of time by another fish, this fish is now in another tank but my poor clown has spent the last 3 weeks hiding behind the filter, he was out all the time before the bulling, hes ok and from what i can see healthy, my stats are great.
has anyone else had this issue? how could i tempt him out, even food doesnt work

I used to have a tiger barb and he kept chasing my corys. I got rid of it because I now know that tiger barbs are nippy and need to stay in groups. My cory was hiding for a couple of weeks but soon he was okay again (especially because now he has some cory buddies!). I'm sorry since I haven't really answered your question, but maybe you need more clown loaches? I know they like to stay in groups, do you have any other? Also how big is the tank?

Clown loaches need to be kept in groups that probably why he's not to happy.

Mmmmm yeah was just thinking that, oh well will go him a friend tomorrow then

Two friends if the tank is big enough, shouldn't keep clown loaches really in less than a group of three.
Make sure they don't look skinny.

yep, also how big is the tank as they appearentley grow pretty big...
yeah i know they do but growth is very slow in clowns, hes in a 130L which is about 35 US Gallons, only gunna be there another 3 months then they are going into a 325L tank which is 86 US Gallon so i will wait until then i suppose its the best thing to do.

yep, I guess it's better than keeping him there for ever or in a 10 gallon like some people do  . I'm now looking into loaches, I have a new interest in them since a couple of weeks ago:)

oh dear your poor parents, they've got them self an addict :hyper: :hyper:

Loaches feel much more secure and act much more loachey in larger groups as a general rule. I'd keep at least two of the same species, three or more if you can. Since you're upgrading to a larger tank soon, you could probably get away with adding two more clowns to keep him company, though you may want to add two more when you upgrade to the larger tank as they'll be much happier in a group of at least five. Loaches online has a good profile on them.

They're fantastic fish, been a loach fan ever since the dojo loaches I had in a big goldfish tank when I first started keeping fish. :good:
