Clown Loach Trouble

Hiding places and more hiding places. They have to be able to get out of the light and if there is a dominance problem than you need extra hiding places for the non-dominant ones. Clown Loaches tend to like spaces that appear to be too small for them so get some plastic tubing. I use square-section brown gutter pipes and during the day rarely see my loaches but at night they come out and beg for food. I have a six foot tank and bought it purely for the Clowns -- if they get too big for that then I shall cook and eat them

I just love the Loach pyramid, fantastic.

I have seen several clowns fit into a space that I could not have put them into even using oil and a mallet. Want to fix things? Add more clowns including one that is clearly bigger than the bully

the bullying clown has backed down to the new clown today and all are swimming around happy so result, they all like being in the pipe together now aswell :)

Fish may not be real smart. But they seem to realize that some things are not worth risking serious injury over. Since they are only doing pecking order and not fighting for spawning rights. It isn't worth an injury that proves fatal on the end. They may wrestle for days, but they wont try to inflict harm, only assert dominance.

However, when it comes to issues of spawning, all bets are off.

With that and the chances of your Loaches spawning being roughly about 0.00000001% - they are basically injury free for life from each other!
