I put a new Fluval u2 filter in my tank about 6 weeks ago and I have since had cloudy water, I believe it is called bacteria in bloom but how long will this last? I did a part water change two weeks ago but the cloudiness is still there, what should I do?....Thanks.

Did you transfer the media, sponges, etc from your old filter in to the new one? The reason I ask is that if you didn't you will have lost all your beneficial bacteria, I apologise if you were already aware of this.

No. I couldn't. I am aware i have lost all my bacteria just don't know what to now.

I assume you've got fish in the tank? If you do, you are now in the middle of a fish-in cycle. As you lost all your bacteria you should be doing daily water changes until the bacteria grow in the new filter. Do you have a test kit? If there is any ammonia or nitrite in the water you need to do a water change.
Water changes will also help with the cloudy water.

Yes i have fish in the tank. I will try the daily water changes. I was unsure whether to do this that's why i have only done one so far. I will take your advice and do that. Thanks.

Do test the water regularly too so that you will know when your cycle is complete. Hopefully your fish will all be okay, do keep us updated.

Ok. I will start this afternoon. Here is too a crystal clear tank.
