Now that you've switched to a fishless cycle, you need to add ammonia on your 24-hour-mark only on a day when your test indicated zero ppm ammonia sometime in the last 24 hours. So let's say you establish 8pm as your "24-hour-mark" (the time of day when you will do your "24 hour test" and add new ammonia if needed.) If you were to measure zero ppm ammonia at, say, 8am in the morning, then you'd still wait until 8pm in the evening as the time to add your new ammonia. The bacteria won't starve not having ammonia for the zero period. My ammonia has stayed pretty steady at 2.0 ppm last couple of days, have not seen any drop in it, but my Nitrites continue to climb.. should I keep pushing the ammonia up to 4.0 ppm? or should I let it get down closer to 1.0 yet.
