Cloudy Eyes

100G does sound a bit extreme, but certainly they need around the 50-60G mark,

Any signs of flicking and rubbing or laboured breathing. - Not really, Ropefish always seem to be a bit laboured in breathing

I've never known a healthy ropefish to hae laboured breathing, mine certainly don't?
I have also treated my tank with sterazin and myxazin in the past with no ill effects,

In humans round worms we can have a red ring around the anus which looks inflamed.
Its the same with fish.
I think I would get a wormer med.
Laboured breathing can be many things from bad water quality, parasites, meds, bacterial, toxins.
