Sorry tried on the catfish forum but didnt get any idea of possible illness:

I have 2 peppered cories and 2 panda cories in my community tank (34gal: tankmates 2 dalmation mollies, 1 dwarf gourami, 1 gibiceps cat (soon to move to bigger tank), 6 kuhlis and molly fry (about 10, 3 weeks old)).
Well about a week or 2 ago i noticed the 2 pandas started going a funny colour (maybe greying) but now there just seems to be a sheen on them and they almost look like they're glowing and they're eyes have now started going very slightly cloudy and its started on my peppers too. So i have done several 50% water changes and checked the parameters and everything is normal and i checked for any granuels on them to rule out ich and velvet and saw nothing and there is no signs of fungus just the funny colour, and in the last few days they have been coming to the surface for air more often and instead of just coming up once they dart up to the surface for about 5-10seconds at a time now.
They have been in the tank about 4 months (peppered nearly a year) and have had no problems with them and they still eat normaly and are very active and i just don't know whats wrong.
Any ideas will be much appreciated, cheers.

There is no salt in the water and luckily i have not had any problems with the mollies (apart from Gourami bullying but cleared up) and i keep the temperature with a heater at 77degrees and i do at least a 30% water change a week but since the fry have been born i have been doing more like 2 40-50% changes a week and i will be taking another parameter reading soon with my own kit (just arrived) as the lfs only tell me if something is high or fine and unless its out of the ordinary do not go it to detail.

Then this morning Nightmare!!!! lost one of my peppered cories, had him nearly a year now . He had no real signs of illness just getting the first sign of cloudyness of one eye from my close inspection, here is a pic of the pandas sorry for the poo picture only have a camera phone to use:

(molly fry and shrimp darting through pic too)
it shows the kind of white sheen around them a bit.

The cloudy eyes are an external bacterial infection called Cloudy Eye, Pimafix is good at treating this.
When you say the corys have a sheen on them, is it kinda like metallic looking at all?

kind of yeh i have never seen anything like it with any the fish i'v kept and i think there may be the starting of finrot on a panda as its tail is slightly shorter than on the other. (and are the water parameters normal as i have never tested myself before?)

Infections can have nothing to do with the water parameters. I would also give the tank a thorough cleaning and vacumming, especially the substrate but also through the plants and any caves etc. Cories are one of the first to be affected by any problems in the substrate. Sorry I missed you in the Cory forum. I followed you over. Good luck with you little guys.

I've started treating with myxazin as i found some in my big draw of fishy things (still in date) and i actually did a massive clean up yesterday stirring all substrate and even removing plants (took about 6 hours) and the water still hasnt cleared up but i'll do a couple more 50% water changes in the upcoming days and hopefully it will clean up.
Cheers for the info.

If the corys have a metallic dusty sheen on them, it is most likely an external parasite called "velvet", its quite infectious so you should treat the tank as a whole instead of individually treating the fish.

Just an update lost one of the pandas this morning, been treating the whole tank with myxazin and the two remaining cories are looking great now and alot happier, so will finish a couple more days dosing to make sure any residue of what affected the others is gone and hope it stays away.

update: everything looked fine i had to leave the tank for a few days to go home to see my new neice (tank in uni house) and left a housemate in charge of feeding and did a 40% water change before leaving and thought evrything would be fine. Got back yesterday and down to 1 kuhli from 6! and the mollies, guppy fry, gibbiceps and cories are all looking poorly, dam it! Looks like the finrot is backas the sick fish have got a white lining around their fins that used to be black and there is quite alot of hanging around the top of the tank at times, so i started treating with melafix for the whole tank to see if it clears up and i'll not be feeding for a couple of days just incase it is because my housemate was overfeeding while i was away and i was wondering if it would be worth putting another filter in as i have a spare and would incease aeration? But it also gets more complicated as i am going to the download festival on wednesday till monday and i'm not really sure what to do about the tank, whether to just leave it with a housemate again or just put a holiday block of food in and obviously a big water change the day i leave.
Any advice would be helpful.

I would advise doing a 40% water change and putting the spare filter in the tank as well, is there any un-eaten food lying around in the tank? You should have very strict rules concerning other people feeding your fish.

I do tell them to only put a pinch of food in as its better to have to little than too much and there was a little bit of food that looked like it had been there a day or two which i cleared up straight away and i have just got some frozen food so i'll tell them to feed 1 block of frozen brine shrimp one day and then an algae wafer the next so there is no chance of just putting loads of flake in like i think happened last time. One more thing the mollies and guppy fry are all kind of wobbleing instead of just flicking their fins to swim like normal with little effort, any idea what this could be maybe some kind swim bladder problem?

When you say they are wobbling, is it like they are shaking/vibrating, or simply not being able to swim straight?

its not a quick wobble or vibration, its almost like its alot of work for them to stay in the same place like there is a large current on them even when in calm parts of the tank, i will try and get a video of them.
