Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone here knows of any supplier in Ireland (possibly not) or at least the UK, who sell clip-on lighting for aquariums. I have checked the web but have had no luck (can only find them in the US).

My tank is 24 inches long and only 8 inches wide and 8 inches deep so it will be open top (no hood) as I'm trying to use as much of what little space I have in the tank.

I'm even limited to space outside the tank so I don't even have enough space for a desk lamp (using a 6500k bulb) so I need one that'll clip onto the tank.

The tank won't be havily planted, but I want to be able to grow java moss at least, along with a couple of other small plants.

I'm hoping to keep a dwarf puffer in there.

Thanks in advance (or am I being too optmistic ...)

Keith :)

What type of lights do you want - there are a good few options available on flea bay

this:
over tank light

or this:
clip on type

there are plenty of small fittings like this available on the web - it may just be that your lfs doesn't stock them.

Hope it helps

You mean something like this??

Try Aquatics-online.co.uk

There are a few on eBay as well if you look under Lighting section in the Home & Garden - Pet supplies - Fish category

Hey,

some of those suggetsions were great, cheers, I think I will be purchasing one today.

Ideally I would be looking for the kind that clips onto both ends of the tank, the over tank type. Ther eis one there as suggested by Scubadoo, but unfortunately it's not long enough, so I might have to go with the clip on lamp.

Just wondering about the wattage I would need to illuminate the tank ... like I said, it's only 8 inches deep so I don't want it to be too bright for the fish, or for it to heat up the water too much. The lamps I was looking at both have different wattages, 9 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VL6-Aquarium-Fish-Ta...1QQcmdZViewItem and 11 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lamp-for-Aquarium-fi...4QQcmdZViewItem

Can anyone advise?
