both my clown and zebra loaches tend to make their clicking noises when i give them algae flakes. They all click really loud but i was wondering why the cloachs actually do it. They don't do it when i add any other types of food i.e. bloodworm, tubiflex etc.

The most well known characteristic of Loaches is that they "click". When they squabble over food or the best place in the hole, they give off a click which is easily heard, sometimes so loud that you think the aquarium has cracked!

lol, I have a large group of Yasuhikotakia modesta in a tank next to the couch in my living room.

I always have to explain to new guests and people that have never been over to my apartment that the wierd clicking sound they here is normal and its just the fish. They always seem very puzzled after I tell them this and proceed to stare at the tanks, listening closely for the click of the loaches. Gotta love loaches :D
