i have 2 cycled tanks now (one 5 gallon and one 7 gallon) who's occupants recently died from unknown diseases (one was possibly internal something, the other i have no idea, he was fine one day, next day on the gravel, next day he was dead) anyway. there was nothing but these two guys (both bettas) in the tanks, but they are cycled with living plants, how do i go about cleaning them ready for new occupants and be sure whatever they had won't be passed on to the new guys? without ripping out all the plants and stuff, i will if i have to, but would prefer not to!

you can use aqua salt to steralise the equipment and then give it a good rinse out.
