Cleaning

Is it not much more stressful on the fish to be netted out of the bags though then to add the water with them? There seems to be two schools of thought on this, I am still a curious soul on these matters so like to know what peoples reasoning for netting them out rather then adding the water in? :)
I think the risk that comes with adding fish shop water to the tank far outways the stress endured by the fish when netting them into the tank :good:

you dont even really need to net them into the tank... what I do is use a bucket and drain the bagwater into the bucket and then plop the fish in without any need for a net!

Oh thats a super idea I will give it a go.

Now I need to work out what to buy  I am in two minds, I can only buy 4 as I have 4 fish and I have been told you can only ever add the maximum of what you have, tank has no algae so not time for a plec yet as I have also been told not to add those until you can see some algae?? Ahhh the fun of fish keeping!! :hyper:

So if you have 20 fish, you can add another 20 fish?

All my new freshies get a cup of marine water added to their bag, then floated for 5 mins, then poured in. My salties get a cup of fresh, dripped in, then floated for 5 mins, then a cup of tank water dripped, then in they go! It seems to work on keeping diseases down for me as I have not had an outbreak of anything since I have started doing it this way.

A really old fishkeeper told me about it, and he also helped me diy my lights on my marine tanks to suck every last drop of power out of them I could, since I can not afford to upgrade right now. Dave has not had a disease in 15 years! :hyper:

BTW,Dave is like 92 years old. I never even knew he ad tanks in his house.

That I don't know but I wouldn't do unless it was a school of neons etc but as I have said I am new to fishkeeping and therefore I go on what I get told by people I know who have been doing it longer.
