I've knowtised that I'm getting some algea build up in the tubes on my hang on the back filter. I was just woundering what things are safe to use to get it off. would a q-tip work? Oh, but then again, it wouldn't be long enough. I would rather not use algea away type stuff.
Thanks in advance.

Can you not thread a bit of string though them ? Thats what I do with externals - then tie on a small bit of clean cloth.... and pull it through.

Providing it doesn't block the flow, there's probably no need to remove it. Depending on the type, it could even be beneficial.

Hi guppy fan :)

When I had AquaClears, I would wet a paper towel, wrap it around a slender knife and wipe out the tube with it.

I have those, I think I got them at petsmart. Come in handy for cleaning the filter. Works great in the tube. I hate seing that all dirty. There's pleanty of other places for the algae and benificial bacteria to grow.
