I've had me tank with Guppies running for a while now. I've noticed that the inside walls of the tank needs cleaning because some green stuff is starting to grow on there. I've seen the magnet thing you can use and pads on a stick to wipe the glass clean. Hows about a new clean scouring pad on a sponge from the kitchen cupboard? It'll be a new, out of the packet, never been used before job. If it's ok to use I'd keep it with me water change kit so it'll never be used for anything else OR would it be better to use a new one every time?

Some of those sponges already have soap and chemicals in them, as long as it doesn't it seems fine.

I have one of those for the really stubborn bits of algae. As long as it is only used for the aquarium and never sees any detergent ever it should be fine.

I like algae scrubbing pads. Nice and easy to use and do the job well.

I use sponge scourers too; cheap and cheerful

As long as they don't have any detergents impregnated in them, as guppy2002 rightly pointed out (and the very cheap ones rarely do, and it will say on the packaging if they do), they'e fine to use.

I always give a new one a rinse in old tank water before I use it in the tank, just in case there are any finishers (chemicals added during the manufacturing process) in there, but I've been using them for well over 20 years with no problems at all.
