hey guys the glass on all 3 of my tanks has gotten ridiculously dirty from getting water dripped down them all the time whenever I do a water change, redecorate the tank, etc. and I've been too nervous about chemicals and such getting into the tank to really clean it. I've done a few quick wipe downs with water now and then, but that just makes the glass foggier.

How do you guys keep the glass on your tanks crystal clear?

Kind of a dumb question considering how long I've been on here. But I figured it was worth asking.

Thanks much

I use windex. I spray a rag far away from the tank and then go wipe the glass.

i have the same problem, would be interesting to find out a way to keep it spotless, i usually just go over it with a damp cloth to get the dried water marks off then wipe it down with a dry cloth or towel :) im having problems with inside tank glass too covered in white marks from what ive heard think it might be hard water staining but most of it is hidden by plants so its okay for now :)

I'm guessing apple cider vinegar won't work? That's all I can find

Any vinegar will be about a 5% solution of acetic acid in the US and about a 6% solution in most other places. Either way, it will dissolve the calcium carbonate deposits that are leaving a white mark where water has dripped. The fact that particular vinegar started as an alcohol solution based on grapes, apple cider or some other base makes no difference whatever, unless you are using it for food and the traces of flavors make a difference to you.

I just use a baby wipe followed by some tissue to dry it off

Windex with vinegar? Best of both worlds?

I just use water, but I spray it onto my glasses/spectacles cloth and use that, comes up brilliant.
I have to do it often with 4 kids fingers and dog slobber.
The smell of vinegar makes me sick so not an option for me.

Always used it.

As long as your tank is glass, a razor blade and some skill at holding it at the right angle will remove the hard water deposits. No vinegar smell but you have to be careful. I think you have to hold it at a 20 to 22 degree angle.
