Cleaning Fluval C4 Filter

I have had my 45 gallon bow going for 2 months now an the indicator button popped today. I never had a filter with c-nods so I was jus wonder he exactly do I clean them with out losing any good bacteria

Just give them a 'swish' in some old tank water to get the loose clumps of dirt off
