Hi just a quick question, whats the best things to use to clean an empty tank? Is it vinegar? or have i got that totally wrong?

Thanks

Its best to use just lots and lots of hot water. If you are going to use any form of cleaning agents, make sure they are mild and washed out more times than you'd care to imagine possible. It is important that there is nothing left in that tank at all.

take care with vinegar, it is used to remove silicone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A good wash with hot water, then let it dry.

A mild bleach solution can be used, 1pt bleach to 20pt water I believe (or something similar) then rinse it over and over again until you can no longer smell the hint of the bleach. Ive used bleach solutions in the past with no problems, the other thing Ive used is ammonia, although seriously wear a mask and something over your eyes, cos that stuff is a killer!!!

You can use vinegar to clean off silicone bobo?????? Cool, got some silicone on the sides of my tank from a divide that I cant get off, what sort of vinegar?

any i believe, but i use white. acetic acid is even better. you still need to cut as much off as you can, scraping with a craft blade. after that a cloth dripping in vinegar, and a fair amount of elbow grease, does the rest.

yes use a weak bleach solution, you buy the cheap thin bleach, it'll be asda smartprice or whatever the equivalent cheapo range is, use 1:20 with water, then you rinse the hell out of it as many times as possible.

If you're having trouble with particular white hardness stains I believe you can cut a fresh lemon and rub the slice directly on the white deposit, alternating with some elbow grease using a coarse sponge or cloth. Has to be a fresh lemon, not commercial lemon juice and not knowing, I'd keep it off the silicone corners.
