Clarice The Fighting Fish Is Still Sick=(

Im not sure what an airstone is so i will have to say no.

So he was stressed? >__<''after an hour or so, he regained his usual head colour, but that seriously had me scared. So how can i avoid this? I do the same full water change and add the same quantity of medication everytime. The pH level was 7.0 and i read it should be between 7.0 - 7.4 for bettas?

But maybe he was possibly cold? I have been unable to install the heater yet, due to the lack of a big fish tank. So maybe that added to his stress? I also add a ig of aqaurium salt too. But thats about it. I use aged water[i age the tap water in jug over night] and use the aged water in the water change. Is there anything else i should avoid? or do?.. other than not overmedicating him? and yes i need to install that heater..>__<

Thank you Wilder!sorry to have so many problems!

When you add a med to a fish tank or bowl it reduces the 02 in the water and this is why you have to increase aeration with a pump with an attached airstone, i would invest in one as the 02 in the tank is reduced so they can't breath as well and they get stressed and go pale in colour.

eeepO__O i see.. thank you for the info!.. berkz, now i must hunt for a tank and airstone..

thank you wilder!^___^

ps: sorry for the questions, but ive also noticed that i may have accidentally hurt him when netting him out yesterday?.. the tip of his top[dorsal fin is it?] fin is a bit crook.. so i think i may have hurt his fin, when netting him out=(.. do you think its wise to put bettafix in as well as the copper sulfate malachite green? or is that too much medication for the little fellow?

No i wouldn't add anymore meds, if should heal as long as its not infected, good luck.

Hi again!

Sorry to be a pain for asking so many questions but I have a concern with the fin rot question I posted earlier. I have been pbserving his fins lately [ the swimming ones on his sides? Sorry I cant remember the name of those fins!] and they look like they are fraying. They just look uneven to eachother, so I'm afraid I should be medicating him. And I'm already putting treating him for velvet, but when is it safe for me to add BettaFix? The bottom fins under his stomach also look a bit tattered too [They were like that when my friend passed him to me, but I think it may have become infected and possibly rotting]

I feel that I'm worst fish mum in the world, I feel horrible:( . But does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? Please?

Well bacterial infection are common with parasites, if you can issolate the fish you will need a bacterial med on top, but once you get secondary infections on top, the odds go down on saving the fish.

Sorry to be a fish newbie, but can you give me any ideas for bacterial meds? And if you mean isolation as in, his own little tank, He has always been in an individual tank. [Well we only have one tank anyway ^__^''] But though the odds of saving him are slimmer, I dont want to give up and let him die! Unless its more human to euthanise him i guess=(.. So should i continue with the velvet treatment his having now? Or add any other treatments on top?

Add half dose of a bacterial med if in the us maracyn one, if in the uk, anti internal bacteria med by interpet, good luck.

Thank you!.. Tiggle also helped me find a site that recommended Tetracycline. I am assuming that should be equivalent to the meds you have suggested?

Thank you so much!

Tetracycline is very good, but i would only use it in a hospital tank as it will wipe the bacteria colony out in the main tank.
