I have adopted a Betta who's not in particularly great shape...some fin damage and heavily clamped fins...
I have put him into a 10gal tank by himself. The current seems a bit much for him but he does seem to find quiet areas in the tank and has been a lot more active in recent days than i've seen him yet. He is eating okay and I don't see any obvious signs of disease.

That all said, the fins are clamped up...will he ease up and start spreading his fins again as they heal up? He barely looks like a betta at this point =(

Sometimes adding 1 teaspoon of salt to 2 1/2 gallons of water will help with fin damage and sticky fin. How's the ph in your water. The filter may be unsuitable for him bettas prefer calm conditions. Having a strong current could stress him out more. I found the best filter is a waterflow bio filter, or a sponge filter. Hope to be of some help :)

Thanks. I have done a 1 tablespoon per 5 gal of water currently...I'll have to look up those conversion rates but I think the salinity is about the same as what you are suggesting. My ph is about 6.5.

I'll have to keep an eye on the current. He seems to have found a few sweet spots but he's only been in there for 2 days.

Oh and I forgot to mention about the salt. You probably already know but just in case The salt has to be pure sea salt not the table salt you use at home.

Yes, aquarium salt.

Hopefully he starts looking better over the next few weeks. Bettas are supposed to be pretty...this guy looks like a damp rag =p
