hey, well ive got sinking pellets and they are fine, fish love them, however apparently they like a mixed diet and sinking pellets have alot of protein in them which is another problem.

So i bought some surface food, "Spirulina cichlid stciks", i put them in and the fish barely see them, they eat one or two but others get lost in the leaves at the surface, do i need to trim my plants?

p.s ive heard people say they feed them cooked prawns and peas, worth looking into?

I agree the sinking pellets might be too rich in protein. As for the "spirulina cichlid sticks" if you want them to sink put them in a glass of tank water half an hour before feeding and they should all sink to the bottom once placed in the tank.

Cooked prawns would be ok for the piscavores and insectavores (if you have them) but I would not feed prawns constantly to herbivours, once a week might be ok. I would defiantly feed peas but just remember to take off the husks before you feed them to your fish.

I also don't see any reason to cut back your plants, I think they look really well.

Regards

Agreed - looks really nice.

Just give them a little time to get used to coming to the surface for food - it won't take long. :good:
