does anyone know if there is a common name for the Cichlasoma Ornatum?

or is there no such thing.....

A Common name would suggest they're common would it not

German of "Esmeralda Buntbarsch" = "Esmeralda cichlid"
Mandarin = "Shizhuangliti fish"


So I think your fish if they pair should be called Hunchback and Esmeralda

for those that have not seen my journal i came back from Oddball Express with 4 more juvi Ornatums and here they are

sorry about the poor pics but they arent use to me or the camera just yet but getting more confident each day

they have started to turn a slight yellow/green over the last few days

This is my most wanted fish. Although I suspect that some pictures on the web is too enhanced to fully believe. I will follow this thread to see them grow up!

If you put your camera directly towards the glass and use a flash and make sure you have sharpness prior to taking the picture you might get sharper images. Can you set your camera to soft flash or similar?

dont know

i try not to use a flash so i dont startle the fish especially these babies
