One of the fish I always recommend when anyone is looking for peaceful cichlids... (sometimes maybe a little too timid)...
They lay around 200 to 250 eggs, which they guard and it hatches in about 4 days (depending on the water temperature). They prefer brackish water, so it is essential to place some salt in the water, to prevent fungus attack to the eggs. I've seen some of the fry attaching themselves to the female.... (not sure if they all do it, or if they take turns in doing it, but some remains free swimming). The fry can immediately be fed on live brine shrimp, and they are also extremely sensitive to changes in water conditions. (so small water changes are advised)
I would rather rear them separately without the cherry barbs and dragon fish... The parents are excellent parents, but cannot be on guard 24/7.
