I`ve got my eye on pressies for Christmas. I`m not so much new to the fishkeeping hobby so much as a wanderer returning. I sold my tanks and stock six years ago before moving house and then having both hips replaced. I promised myself I would have at least one tank one day. Now is the time but things have changed as far as technology and tank detail are concerned so much that I need advice from those "in the know".

I have very limited room in my office on my desk and have taken a shine to the 12gal. Nanocube. It seems that this tank is aimed at those setting up micro reef tanks. I am split between using the Nanocube to create a reef tank or creating a planted freshwater system. What do you think?

I haven`t kept marines in the past I had three freshwater setups. Two with Discus. I like the compact self contained design of the cube but want your advice before "shelling out".

If I go for the freshwater msystem do I need to alter any of the built in items of the Nanocube eg. lights etc?

I`m looking forward to hearing your views. Thanks.
