Christmas And/or Holiday Season.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone, i hope this quick thread finds you all well and ready for 2012

So this afternoon was meant to be weekly W/C time, but both myself and Mrs.Apple smelt a very, very faint smell of Chlorine or some other kind of additive,in our home tap water on two occasions today.
First thing was to phone our local water company and provider.. to which i got the reply that "yes, there are certainly more additives put in at this time of year, but i am unfortunately unable to tell you how much and when" (she didn't know, so that was fair enough).. but she did reply something along the lines of " we have, in the past, suggested to any fishkeepers to double the doasge of whatever it is they put in between the tap and tank waters..."

So there. Do i go ahead with my weekly water change? Do i add twice as much Prime as usual? Do i leave it a week to be sure?

Anyone had anything similiar happen to them at this time of year?

I can't say I've noticed any changes of smell in my tap water over the last week or so so I'm presuming it's the same as normal. I was going to do a water change this afternoon but I ran out of time/energy/inclination now. I'll see if I notice anything next time I run the tap! I'll dose a bit extra though tomorrow when I change the water. Thanks for passing that on Terry

Very good information, could I suggest testing the water supply and seeing how far out of 'norm' it is and then treating accordingly? Jyst a suggestion, as I really haven't a clue!

Bound to be someone on here that has got the correct info though!

A double dose of Prime won't hurt. If I remember correctly the bottle states you can add 5 times the normal dose if the need arises.

Apologies for the late(ish) reply.. Mrs.Stoker (being 8 months pregnant) phoned with a false alarm!!!

I had an email from a water company representative, stating that over twice the usual amount of chlorine has been added for this week.. so i have decided to leave my water change until next friday, missing a week surely wont make that much difference.
