Hi Everyone!
I am new to this forum but have been a fish lover for 30 years. I recently purchased a pair of blood parrots and tried to pick a male and a female. Looks like I lucked out because they just spawned! I was wondering if I got the sex of the two fish mixed up so i'm posting a few pics of the eggs and what I thought was the male. The other parrot is hiding at the moment but I can say that his or her's vent is smaller and pointing toward the rear of the fish vs. the prominent vent on the fish in the pic. I would really appreciate any info or advise about my new buddies.

it wouldnt matter if they were male and female anyway, as they are infertile so you wont get no babies.

Not true, most are infertile but not all, probably 1 in 10 are fertile, same as other line bred fish like the Red Spotted Severum.

I had a pair spawn also (male was infertile)

yes i understand what your saying but its very hard if not rare to get a fertile male, if it was my suggestion i would put a convict male or something with her.

I put a male Texas with my female parrot in the end, never grew up any fry tho, i hadplans to start growing towards some red texas but never got round to it.

I don't even think anywhere near 1 in 10 are fertile. As far as I'm aware they are nearly all infertility.

Why is this even in this section?

Because the its his first post, probably why.

And it is around 1 in 10 i know a few people who have bred male parrots with other cichlids plus mfk has dozens of them.

They according to Heiko Bleher (very respected name in fish keeping/importing) are not even hybrids, they are just deformed line bred Midas, he was who introduced them into the hobby, they are in many ways like the Red Spotted Severum (line bred for colour and most infertile)

Thanks for the info folks. Were the pics clear enough to determine the sex of the fish?

couldnt see them mate, you need to separate them from the tags :)
