hi, i have a 3/4 gallon tank and setting it up with cherry shrimp to on my computer desk. i also put pregnant guppies in the tank to give birth, will guppies (around 1inch big) eat baby shrimp? and will cherry shrimp eat the baby guppies?

cheers

That tank is VERY small...

However, they will go together, but I think the guppies will probably eat the shrimp babies. I had guppies and cherry shrimp together for a few months, had several batches of guppy fry and no cherry shrimp babies.

they wont stay in there. it would be used as a "breeding trap" kind of thing, shrimp will stay in there, female guppy gives birth then moves over to community tank and after a week or two baby guppies go to fry tank with other slightly larger fry

Who said he has in internal heater? With a tank that small you can get away with one of the reptile types that go under the tank.

I don't see any problem with it being used as a temp fry tank as long as you have a sponge filter in there.

I'm assuming your going to net the fry out when they get to about 1/2"?

I'm nervous about using a 5 gal for my fry tank! A 3/4 gal? How could you even heat that? I don't believe those reptile pads are reliable.
(What is the smallest tank you can heat with a submersible heater?)

You can get heaters down to fit a 5g. I can't remember the brand name.

He's not going to raise the fry in the 3/4, just grow them until the other fry will not eat them. It's like using the breading box things that float in the aquarium.

What size is your fry tank? The one your going to move the fry to.

LOL, sorry to cause the uproar guys i meant to put 13/4 gallon, 20 x 20 x 10, i had it made by a mate who's a glass cutter in a factory. so it would fit my desk perfectly. the adult would be in there for 1 day 2days max and fry would be in there 2-3weeks then moved to a bigger tank with other fry which are slightly older.

my other fry tank is a 29 gallon, same as my 35 gallon community tank

Oh! Sorry!
Guppies maaay eat shrimp. I'd only put the larger ones in, so they see "tank mate" instead of "large, moving food"

a 25 watt heater will heat a 2-6 gal tank, no problem. ive got tanks ranging in those levels WITH themometers (and no, not the stickies, actualy floating bobs), and the heaters work GREAT. ive had one for over a year and a half (that's as long as ive kepts small tanks)
cheers!
